2: Wading through December’s Twilight Zone

The Twilight Zone of December - Society gives us this one week in an entire year where it’s “ok” and encouraged to slow down and then we spend the next 51 weeks disciplining and willpowering ourselves into self-improvement, judging and shaming ourselves for all the ways we’re not showing up but “should” be, and running ourselves into the ground in the name of success.

But that’s not working for you.

You’re doing the hard work of disrupting systems of oppression in your life and communities, you’re standing up to the system in so many important ways. I’ve need you to ask yourself: are you doing the same for how these systems are showing up in your life? In your pace, in your thoughts, in your emotional labor beyond this one week of slowing down?

So how are you going to break the cycle?

The shit we need to talk about this episode:

  • Reflecting on 2022 with admiration - because fuck judgment

  • Why intentions are setting us up for failure and heartache

    • The case for being intentional with our self-care practices and deeply connected to ourselves and our needs and desires in 2023 to support ourselves in a meaningful and sustainable way mentally, emotionally, physically, and energetically

  • All this to help us navigate the last week of December Twilight Zone a little easier and keep some of this energy with us as we begin 2023.
