4: Disrupting slowing down and the meaning of rest in your life

Clearing out all the noise, creating space for inquiry, and taking supportive action

CW: In today’s episode I discuss the yoga philosophy of non-harming and mention self-injury once.

We are in the second week of January, the second week of the New Year, and I’m touting the same message as the last few weeks - continuing at an unhurried pace.

But already your life may totally not be in sync with nature’s offerings (not from your own doing, of course!) since many, if not all areas of your life outside of your personal self-care may still be subscribing to dominant culture’s “hit the ground running, new year best possible freaking version of you” messaging and thus things are anything but slow, steady, and peaceful.

How do you move forward in an aligned way?

The shit we need to talk about today in Episode 4 is:

  1. The disconnect between nature’s call for continuing to slow and rest even after the New Year has begun and society’s expectation and pace

  2. Examining your relationship to slowing down and resting

  3. Exploring the yoga philosophy of ahimsa and practice of not causing harm - especially towards yourself and how this connects to your slowing down and rest practices

  4. Getting bold in saying out loud the care you need and creating space so you can show up for yourself to honor how you want to feel

  5. Support for moving through the tough stuff that arises from inquiry and taking action.
