25. Create a life you don’t always need a break from
It IS possible to enjoy ease all year round.
Summer begins next week and the shit we need to talk about is: How can you create a life you don’t need to always take a break from?
Summer naturally offers us a time to release stress and restrictions and here in America, we do it HARD. Honestly, we’re basically forced to thanks to capitalism and white supremacy culture. As a result, there are some pretty glaring tendencies at play from June-August, including to:
“Take advantage of summer” and do all the things that you don’t get to during the rest of the year to make up for lost time (BUT THEN you end up overextending yourself).
Say “THIS SUMMER I’m going to do x, y, and z”, (but then you don’t make it happen because the bar was set way too high and life lifes AND THEN you feel guilty about it).
...And what happens is, it all becomes one big never ending cycle or rollercoaster that you just can’t seem to put the brakes on or stop for a better, more supportive, and nourishing journey for your life.
The reality is: you might find yourself experiencing difficulty striking a balance between your summer schedule and the rest of the year.
...And THAT may leave you feeling anxious or depressed when summer ends and unready for when your rigorous schedule begins again. …Which only sets you up to feel dysregulated during the variable fall season, and that can ALREADY be really dysregulating because of the mobile and light nature of fall! …AND this continues to contribute to feeling overwhelmed and being burned out, which leads to the end of the year pulling into the station on fumes AND ALSO adds to a feeling of dysregulation in the winter.
Friend, it’s a vicious cycle. ...So that brings us to the burning question: What do you do?
How can you create a life where you’re not solely relying on summer to give you the relief and joy you need to sustain you for the rest of the 9 months until next summer?
The good news: it IS possible to enjoy ease all year round (this is not pie in the sky or bypassing the fuckery of white supremacy culture or capitalism, I assure you) and this week’s episode explores foundational support you need to make this happen, including:
Ayurveda 101: understanding the basics of energy in nature and the importance of knowing your dosha (energy) dominance so that you can 1) align your self-care practices accordingly, 2) identify when imbalances arise 3) meet yourself there with practices that balance them 4) AND also honor how the season’s energy lands within you.
